The History of AirPower BBS
AirPower is one of
the "pioneers" of the online world, having been online continuously since March
of 1989. AirPower began as a BBS with a single focus, precision, high-power,
high-accuracy, adult
airguns! Before long, airgunners, then shooters and collectors of
all types of arms were dialing in from all over the world. This was
in the days before Internet access was widely available. Users
dialed in, but due to the use of very efficient automated, script-driven terminal and
offline mail programs, long distance charges for access were minimal. As the number of
AirPower users grew, so did the scope of services we offered. In 1992 the software
AirPower operates on was upgraded from RyBBS to PcBoard, arguably the best commercial
online service software ever written. Today, AirPower completely integrates the online
world of dialup and Internet. Our network consists of the BBS server and dialup server, a
telnet server, www and ftp server, and two email servers providing email services for
AirPower users via our AirPower.com, AirPower.dynip.com, and AirGunHQ.com
domains. The newest addition to this mix is Dnews, an Enterprise level news server.
This will allows us to offer our 1500 top quality discussion groups in two more
ways: through your news reader and through a web browser.
